On August 1, 2016, Mile High Early Learning’s Edna Oliver Early Learning Center hosted U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. during his trip to highlight the work Colorado is doing to improve access to high-quality early learning.
Secretary King was joined by Libby Doggett, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Policy and Early Learning, Lieutenant Governor Donna Lynne, CDHS Executive Director Reggie Bicha, and Interim Education Commissioner Katy Anthes, and then the Secretary visited one of the Center’s preschool classrooms to participate in circle time. Secretary King joined the children and teachers for circle time where and classroom aides for a round of feeling-sharing, introducing the date and weather, singing a song about sea life, and a quick lesson on manatees. Secretary King interacted with children as they worked on Montessori inspired activities throughout the classroom.
Mile High Early Learning was honored to be chosen as an example of early learning success and as the site for Secretary King’s visit to Denver!
